Along The Rails

We’re reaching the end of the Fall Meet at Churchill Downs, and today marks the Clark Handicap.

On Saturday, the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, the Grand Canyon, the Caressing, and the Golden Rod Stakes will run as part of the “Stars of Tomorrow II” card.  (Keep an eye on the Grand Canyon and the Caressing — those are for fillies.) It’s the fourth time the to-do has gone down at Churchill.

The program will showcase two year olds.  It’s a fitting end to the meet; on New Year’s Day, these babies will turn three, and thus reach eligibility for the Kentucky Derby on May the second.
