Living Legends Wrap Up
Remember how Jerry Bailey was all, “Yep, once and out”? Seems that the Great Eight all got off their horses with a hearty “Again!” And Chris “Ivy” McCarron? He’s available. Angel Cordero Jr. explained his last-place finish by explaining that “I just didn’t foul anyone.”
Sandy Hawley was charming and humble in his flying-dismount victory, which came from his first time in a starting gate in a decade. He attested to going to the whip at the end “to look like I was doing something.” The finish gives him a nice, even 6,450 wins. And all that after a line of six hundred fans lined up for autographs in the California sun.
