Ride Gary Ride, If Even On Synthetics
As my longtime readers know, if Gary Stevens ever wants mention here at Along The Rails, all he has to do is, pretty much, exist. Over the weekend, he existed at the new faux dirt track at Santa Anita. Stevens rode for a significant chunk of his career in California, so presumably he’d have a pretty good idea as to what would suck and what wouldn’t.
He breezed a horse on the surface–the brand name is “Pro-Ride”–and delivered his thoughts on the test ride to the likes of the president of Santa Anita and the founder of Pro-Ride (who is Australian, and thus by default almost certainly awesome.) So sayeth The Stevens: “This is the best track I’ve ever been on… If this track is maintained properly and it remains as it is today, I can truthfully say it’s the best track I’ve ridden on.” So let it be ridden. So let it be done.
