“GIVE ME BACK MY HORSE!” Update

Published by marybethellis at 7:18 am under What About... Edit This

When last we checked in with The Great Bronze Horse Caper of Garden State Park, citizens were on the lookout for some nasty bronze horse rustlers and their mysterious Caterpillar of the night.

We now have an update from Kelly The Reader, who checked in with a tip that the culprits have been well and truly nabbed. The police recovered the rider’s head (harsh!) and gathered about a thousand pounds of the remains from a salvage yard, which must have been a positively delightful task, there amongst the trash in New Jersey in July. If I’m the chief of police, I’m making the four men who did it perform the dumpster diving, but then, that’s just one of the many, many reasons why I’m horribly unelectable.

The statue was valued at over $500,000; these guys sold it for four grand. So… not only meanies, but economic luminaries. Well done! And a true well done to Kelly The Reader for her kind info-sharing.
