Haskell Invitational: Critical Essay Questions

Published by marybethellis at 4:51 pm under As It Happens Edit This

The conventional wisdom is that Kent Desormeaux has learned his lesson with Big Brown– don’t underestimate him.  Desormeaux allowed the colt to show a maturing sense of his talents and chase down the leader, a quickly vanishing Coal Play.

IEAH has learned its lesson– it’s possible to do good while promoting your own horse.

Maybe Big Brown has learned his lesson too–hey, there’s an entire race out there!

And our very good friend, the long-missing trainer Rick Dutrow?

Curlin couldn’t win the Derby, we could,” Dutrow said. “Curlin couldn’t win this race, we could. Curlin got beat [by] a filly. We haven’t. Our horse is undefeated on the grass. Curlin isn’t. I don’t know why people think Curlin is such a good horse. We’re way better than Curlin.”

Oh, Rick. how we missed you.
