Along The Rails

Kentucky’s Ellis Park (no relation, although the medication-necessary behavior behind this story makes me think it should be) is opening on Friday, about a week late. This after several days of “It’s never EVAH opening as a track again!” “Well… wait.” “Yeah, open for business, fire up the employee phone tree!”

At issue was purse money percentages, and the upshot is that the payouts will be bigger for the owners. The important thing here is that a lot of good people will be able to retain their jobs, and, as always, more racing opportunities = Good For The Sport. But sheesh, couldn’t we have gotten this done without all the public seasickness?
